Courage for the Call

An Online Retreat or In-Person Retreat

Is this what God wants for me?

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

-Reinhold Niebuhr

When life takes an unexpected turn and you are faced with challenging decisions or when you are confused as to where God is calling you and unsure what to do, the “courage” part of the Serenity prayer is difficult. Questions start to surface: Am I qualified to try this? Will I get hurt if I take a risk? What will I have to let go in the process? This retreat invites you to see that within every call is the grace to respond when you allow yourself to surrender into the merciful arms of God. We will talk about the struggle to surrender, the difference between worries and concerns, and the path towards opening your heart to a place of inner freedom.

At the end of our six weeks together you will

  • Discover the difference between worries and concerns. (Which are helpful and which are toxic?)

  • Appreciate the strength and freedom you can find through lessons in humility.

  • Learn practices you can use for your most “courage-needed” moments.

This time together has made me aware that we human beings go through similar experiences in life as we aspire for a closer walk with Jesus. We are all in this together.

Hello and welcome. I've been in retreat ministry for the past fifteen years. I am an author, faciltator, Mercy Associate, the ministry founder, and hold a graduate certificate in Mercy Spirituality. I began my career as a journalist, working as a TV reporter and anchor for ten years. I love these online retreats because they combine my education and experience in reporting, researching, and writing with my love for empowering people to embrace their spiritual journey. When I write, I picture writing to a friend, gently encouraging them, and saying, “I hear you. Let’s walk through this together.”
